The aim of introducing the Critical Skills for Adolescent Girls(CSAG) module is to nurture the holistic development of our girls and equip them with awareness, confidence, and resilience. It also focuses on the creation of conducive spaces where our girls can flourish.
Topics Covered
SEL (Based on CASEL Framework): Social and Emotional Learning is central to our CSAG programme. We develop socio-emotional skills in our girls by supporting them in understanding themselves and their emotions and fostering healthy relationships. These skills become even more essential for our girls’ well-being as they come from underrepresented communities and study in a residential school setting.
Health, Hygiene and Safety: One segment of it educates girls on menstrual health and hygiene, its significance, related myths, and their questions on it. The aim is to smoothen their transition to adolescence and boost their self-esteem. We also focus on nutrition awareness to promote their healthy growth during this phase. Gender Sensitivity: This module introduces our girls to the concept of gender equity. It focuses on understanding gender roles, deconstructing gender behaviours and attitudes, and breaking gender stereotypes that stop them from reaching their potential. It aims to enable them to recognize and understand gender discrimination in their society which can ultimately lead to increased gender equitable attitudes and higher aspirations among girls.
Key Objectives
- Developing Self-awareness: Assisting our girls in understanding their emotions, thoughts and values, while providing opportunities for self-expression.
- Building Self-management: Teaching them how to regulate their emotions and thoughts, manage stress, and stay motivated. Also, guiding them on how to navigate through the transitional phase during adolescence.
- Cultivating Agency: Supporting them in identifying, articulating, and challenging gender stereotypes, and fostering a sense of strong agency and voice.
