Foundational English Course

Our goal for introducing this course is to bridge the English proficiency gap for Class 6-8 Girls in KGBV schools. Rather than treating it as a primary-level subject, we introduce English as a beginner’s language. This approach makes it more accessible and relevant for all-grade students to engage with English as a language beyond the classroom engagement as a subject.

Though our intervention, we aim the following:

  • To make English learning enjoyable for our Girls.
  • To create access to English learning spaces and practices within their immediate surroundings
Highlights

LSRW skills: As part of the English Foundational English, we integrate Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills to make language learning more holistic. We incorporate interactive activities like FAQs, flashcards with simple English instructions, and creative games like bingo while transacting content like phonics, blends, digraphs, etc. to make learning English fun and boost our Girl’s confidence.

High-Quality Textbook: Our contextualized English Activity Booklet draws from the Girl’s immediate surroundings: their cultural context, local environment, and daily lives. It connects English lessons to their real-life experiences, making learning more relatable and meaningful.
